What is the background of the project?
In the department of Tarija 48% of the population over 15 years of age has Chagas disease and 40 out of 100 pregnant women could be affected by this disease, but in addition, 4 to 5 percent of newborns are at risk of their mothers transmit the ailment to them. (Ministry of Health 2017). It is expected to establish the magnitude of the population infected by T. cruzi in a non-endemic municipality, a situation that will allow reorienting the planning of diagnosis similar interventions in non-endemic municipalities of similar characteristics. The present study will allow a diagnosis and treatment intervention of the infected population, with an epidemiological impact, since it is expected to interrupt the disease transmission pathways, mainly the congenital route, since the decrease in vertical transmission in women has been demonstrated in fertile age treated.

study the serotypes of chagas that occur in the city of Bermejo

The study to be carried out is a descriptive, quantitative field epidemiological study
What is the role of the student?

What are the tasks expected to be accomplished by the student?
The exchange student is expected to take an active part in the collection of patient data and screening through the registration forms, to which he must sign an informed concentration for incorporation into the study, and the subsequent delivery of the results of the immunochromatographic test.

In the theoretical part: you must have a basic knowledge of Chagas disease. Research and field work: basic knowledge about semiology.
