What is the background of the project?
In the department of Tarija 48% of the population over 15 years of age has Chagas disease and 40 out of 100 pregnant women could be affected by this disease, but in addition, 4 to 5 percent of newborns are at risk of their mothers transmit the ailment to them. (Ministry of Health 2017). It is expected to establish the magnitude of the population infected by T. cruzi in a non-endemic municipality, a situation that will allow reorienting the planning of diagnosis similar interventions in non-endemic municipalities of similar characteristics. The present study will allow a diagnosis and treatment intervention of the infected population, with an epidemiological impact, since it is expected to interrupt the disease transmission pathways, mainly the congenital route, since the decrease in vertical transmission in women has been demonstrated in fertile age treated.
What is the aim of the project?
study the serotypes of chagas that occur in the city of Bermejo
What techniques and methods are used?
