What is the background of the project?
The growing antibiotics resistance and drugs’ adverse effects due to the misuse of the medications has a major impact on the public health. Information provided by health care workers either doctors, nurses or even pharmacists for patients regarding their treatment and medications wither inpatients or outpatients are usually not enough. Low health literacy has a negative impact on the patient’s health, patients with low health literacy level cannot make decisions regarding their health care It is important for patients to have at least the information that keep them on the safe side and to avoid side effects, drug-drug interactions and complications acquired due to lack of knowledge, and give them the chance to choose their proper treatment. This project has started since last June it aims to determine the role of the health care workers in patient's education regarding their treatment and medications. The research will deal with one of the major birth control and family planning methods with the aim to assess the knowledge, attitude and awareness of practice of these drugs as they preventing unintended pregnancy and keep decent spacing between pregnancies will reflect huge beneficial on the mother health and child development, that’s only can be reach by knowledgeable and well-educated parents on how Contraceptive should be used with the right attitude and practice. Despite the benefits of these drugs, also the misuse, lack of knowledge and the hazard use of contraceptive carry scary health problems that may have fatal effect on the mother life e.g. Breast Cancer, Pulmonary embolism and heart attack, or may lead to social and functional disturbance on the daily activity of the mother e.g. mood swinging, headache and nausea & vomiting.
