Type of Research Project
- Basic science
What is the background of the project?
The knowledge of the human anatomy is an ensemble of concepts that are basic for every student in the field of the health sciences. Manual dissections of the human bodies are a good way to get in touch with the measures, the relations and the situation. In addition, the students will be able to do by themselves the specific techniques used in each piece depending on the structure they will have to dissect. The pieces that will be dissected depend on the necessities of the university and the availability of the bodies. The samples that the students will work with will be, for example, livers, stomach, muscle, nerves, vessels, etc. Finally, the students will help in the organization and the clasification of these pieces into the university database of human samples.
What is the aim of the project?
The aim of the project is to give a profound knowledge of the human body to the future healthcare workers.
What techniques and methods are used?
The techniques performed for this projects are the basic methods used in human dissection: reflection of the skin, reflection of fascia, cleaning muscles, nerves and arteries, cross-sectional tecniques, use of the preservative substances, etc.
What is the role of the student?
- The tasks of the student will be performed on his/her own
- The tasks will be done under supervision
What are the tasks expected to be accomplished by the student?
First, safe working conditions will be taught. Second, the student will learn to use dissecting instruments such as scalpel, forceps, scissors, probes and seekers. The student will be trained in several techniques of dissection such as reflection of the skin, reflection of fascia, cleaning muscles, nerves and arteries, cross-sectional tecniques, use of the preservative substances, etc. The student is expected understand and be capable of taking an active role in the preservation techniques and methods of the human cadavers, perform the different human body dissection techiniches and improving his/her knowledge in the human anatomy.
Will there be any theoretical teaching provided (preliminary readings, lectures, courses, seminars etc)
Basic theoretical lectures will be provided by the anatomy team (tutor and anatomy thechnitian) during the training period
What is expected from the student at the end of the research exchange? What will be the general outcome of the student?
- No specific outcome is expected
What skills are required of the student? Is there any special knowledge or a certain level of studies needed?
- Anatomical knowledge.
Are there any legal limitations in the student’s involvement
Type of students accepted
