What is the background of the project?
Coronary artery disease (CAD) is relevant in the world population. Its manifestations are related to an insufficient degree of blood irrigation to which it has close connections with an atherosclerotic plaque obstruction. Atherogenesis is intensified when risk factors such as smoking, obesity, systemic arterial hypertension, diabetes mellitus, dyslipidemia, and family history are present. With the objective of analyzing, analyzing and describing the epidemiology of moderate-grade CAD, of patients treated at a hemodynamic service in the interior of the state of Rondônia. The analysis will be descriptive and performed from a cross-sectional approach of all of the patients who underwent cardiac catheterization on the service in question from the current period up to the end of the exchange time.
What is the aim of the project?
To analyze and describe the epidemiology of moderate to severe coronary artery disease treated at a hemodynamic center in the city of Cacoal, interior of the state of Rondônia, Brazil.
What techniques and methods are used?
The methodology used in the present research is based on a cross - sectional and descriptive epidemiological approach, aiming to characterize the population studied with the data obtained. The choice of this type of approach arises from the interest in analyzing the total charts of patients submitted to cardiac catheterization at a hemodynamic service located in the municipality mentioned in the period from March 10, 2018 until the end of the period, and also to relate the risk factors present in each case analyzed. All patients who underwent cardiac catheterization within the proposed period will be included in the study, with no gender or specific age. Only the most recent procedures will be included if there is more than one cardiac catheterization performed by a single patient. Exclusion criteria will be those patients who are treated at the site outside the study period and medical records that present procedures other than cardiac catheterization. It is worth noting that due to the fact that the study is based on the analysis of data contained in medical records, the research is subject to losses in terms of not finding some medical records, which, consequently, will be excluded from the research. The materials used to perform the study will be the data contained in the medical records and also the results of cardiac catheterization performed by the patients. The data present quantitative and qualitative variables. The values of laboratory tests will not be analyzed, but the closed diagnosis of diabetes mellitus and dyslipidemia in the medical records will be analyzed. Also, data from exercise tests, electrocardiogram, echocardiogram and Holter will not be analyzed. Subsequently, the results will be tabulated in Excel® worksheet. During tabulation, the data will be organized and divided according to the characteristics of the patient in terms of sex, age of the cardiac catheterization and presence or absence of coronary artery disease, as well as the presence or absence of risk factors (smoking, obesity, systemic arterial hypertension, diabetes mellitus, dyslipidemia and family history). IFMSA International Secretariat, c/o IMCC, Nørre Allé 14, 2200 København N., Denmark After the tabulation is completed, the statistical analysis of the data will be done with a 95% confidence interval and will allow the epidemiological profile of coronary artery disease to be traced and correlated with the aforementioned risk factors.

What are the tasks expected to be accomplished by the student?
The student will do this project analyzed the risk factors hypertension, diabetes, dyslipidemia, familiar historic and smoking. After that, the student is able to understand and make conclusion about the risk factor associated of coronary disease. Another thing is that the student can investigated the prevalence of coronary artery disease treated at the site. So, with the help of the tutor, they can development materials that can be useful to the patient and the doctor to decrease the prevalence of this disease.
Will there be any theoretical teaching provided (preliminary readings, lectures, courses, seminars etc)
If necessary, specific literature of the specialization will be made available both by the tutor and the faculty, in addition, the tutor, who is trained in cardiology, has made available to teach any knowledge necessary for the development of the project.
What is expected from the student at the end of the research exchange? What will be the general outcome of the student?

What skills are required of the student? Is there any special knowledge or a certain level of studies needed?
Knowledge about basic scientific production, basic knowledge about cardiac physiology and anatomy ( need passad in these subjects). knowledge about the risk factors addressed in the project.Futhermore, she/he need to be empathy, initiative, communication skills and scientific and investigative spirit.
