What is the background of the project?
Infertility is an increasing health problem. The assisted reproductive techniques (ART) contribute to solve in part this problem; however, the efficiency is not optimal. In this project, it will be analyzed the contribution of the female genital tract secretions in this process. Different genes related with the sperm protection in the female genital tract will be studied. Additionally, the effect of some of these proteins would be tested to know its effect on the sperm motility, capacitation, and acrosome reaction.

What is the role of the student?
- The tasks of the student will be performed on his/her own
- The tasks will be done under supervision
What are the tasks expected to be accomplished by the student?
The student will prepare complementary DNA, will do the Polymerase Chain Reaction and will perform the Western blot. The student will analyze the sperm motility under the microscope
Will there be any theoretical teaching provided (preliminary readings, lectures, courses, seminars etc)
Interview with the tutor to explain the project. Relevant articles about the project will be provided.
