What is the background of the project?
In Brazilian Amazon, the snakebite is a little-known public healthproblem. In a retrospective epidemiological study of 734 patients treated at the Institute of Tropical Medicine of Amazonas, from 1986 to 1992 it was observed that the main species of snakes that cause accidents in this region were Bothropsatrox and Lachesismutamuta. For this reason, this project studies the estimation of the incidence of complications and risk factor for severity and lethality from snakebites and other venomous animal in the Brazilian Amazon.
What is the aim of the project?
The aim of the project is to estimate the incidence of complications due to venomous animals injuries in the Brazilian Amazon.
