Type of Research Project
- Clinical Project without Laboratory work
What is the background of the project?
Numerous studies indicated that Intravesical prostatic protrusion is relevant to prognosis of Lower Urinary Tract Symptoms, however, the confounding effect that is brought about by prostate volume, urethra anterior curvature angle and other factors makes it hard to evaluate the role of intravesical prostatic protrusion in clinical observation.
What is the aim of the project?
The aim of the project is to investigate the putative association between intravesical prostatic protrusion and severity of lower urinary tract symptoms.
What techniques and methods are used?
Techniques: Patients will be enrolled prospectively in an outpatient setting. We will use ultrasound, uroflowmetry and clinical visit for each patient.
What is the role of the student?
- If the project includes “lab work”
- the student will take active part in the practical aspect of the project
- The tasks will be done under supervision
What are the tasks expected to be accomplished by the student?
- Each student will be engaged during the urological visit. We will give all information to each patient and we will teach how to conduct and interpret ultrasound. - Uroflowmetry and the urological visit
Will there be any theoretical teaching provided (preliminary readings, lectures, courses, seminars etc)
What is expected from the student at the end of the research exchange? What will be the general outcome of the student?
- No specific outcome is expected
What skills are required of the student? Is there any special knowledge or a certain level of studies needed?
No. For further informations; PMID: 26680245 PMID: 26285823
Are there any legal limitations in the student’s involvement
Type of students accepted
