- Clinical Project without Laboratory work
What is the background of the project?
Follicular neoplasm is a tumor of thyroid. Follicular neoplasm of the thyroid gland can be a benign tumor such as thyroid adenoma or it can be a malignant neoplasm (thyroid cancer) .Currently, a follicular carcinoma cannot be distinguished from a follicular adenoma based on cytologic features alone. It is distinguished from a follicular adenoma on the basis of capsular invasion, vascular invasion, extrathyroidal tumor extension, lymph node metastases, or systemic metastases. Most patients with a follicular adenoma or follicular carcinoma of the thyroid gland present with a solitary thyroid nodule in an otherwise normal thyroid gland. The purpose of this project is to determine the statistical results of biopsy used in the follicular neoplasm of thyroid. The aim is to elucidate the final results of the biopsy reports of the follicular neoplasm in thyroid. Techniques and methods that will be used are literature reviews and interviews. Especially the retrospective analysis of patients with follicular neoplasm by using data in files.
What is the aim of the project?
The aim is to elucidate the final results of the biopsy reports of the follicular neoplasm in thyroid.
What techniques and methods are used?
Techniques and methods that will be used are literature reviews and interviews.
What is the role of the student?
- The student will observe the practical experiments but will be highly involved in the analysis of the results
- If the project includes “lab work”
- the student will take active part in the practical aspect of the project
What are the tasks expected to be accomplished by the student?
To help the research project, with their best knowledge and dedication to the topic
Will there be any theoretical teaching provided (preliminary readings, lectures, courses, seminars etc)
What is expected from the student at the end of the research exchange? What will be the general outcome of the student?
- The student will prepare a scientific report
What skills are required of the student? Is there any special knowledge or a certain level of studies needed?
The visiting students should have at least minimal knowledge in clinical investigation, to be a good communicator and be willing to do a literature search and read. The students should be able to take part in clinical assessment of patients suffering from follicular neoplasm of thyroid, as well as have knowledge to perform statistical analyze of collected data. Basic computer skills are required. There are no legal limitations for student. At the end of the exchange program a scientific report is demanded .It can be as a presentation or a paper report
Are there any legal limitations in the student’s involvement
