Type of Research Project
- Clinical Project with Laboratory work
What is the background of the project?
Confocal Laser Microscopy is a fluorescence- and laser-based technique to collect
serial optical sections from different kind of specimens. In the department, it is used to describe protein localization and protein interactions. The student will have the
opportunity to create his/her own specimens via Immunocytofluorescence, and
Immunohistofluorescence. Thereafter, he/she will create his/her own data at the
Confocal Microscope while taking pictures of the specimen
What is the aim of the project?
The aim of the project is to provide the possibility to learn specific skills to handle the confocal laser microscopy.
What techniques and methods are used?
Confocal Laser Microscopy, ImageJ Software, Cell-culture, Immunocytofluorescence,Immunohistofluorescence are used in the project. There also will be a labmeeting once a week.
There are approximately 6-8 hours of work per day.
What is the role of the student?
What are the tasks expected to be accomplished by the student?
The idea is to give the student important skills of which he or she will be profiting in the future. The student is expected to work responsively within the work-group in the laboratory to receive his/her own data.
Will there be any theoretical teaching provided (preliminary readings, lectures, courses, seminars etc)
Once a week: Labmeeting
What is expected from the student at the end of the research exchange? What will be the general outcome of the student?
What skills are required of the student? Is there any special knowledge or a certain level of studies needed?
No special skills are required. The student should have passed at least the first year of study. There are no legal limitations in the student.
Are there any legal limitations in the student’s involvement
Type of students accepted
This project accepts: - Medical students - Pre-Medical students from the American-British system - Students in biomedical fields
