Type of Research Project
- Clinical Project without Laboratory work
What is the background of the project?
Studies in rats have shown that angiotensin II may be an important neuro-humoral regulator on the base IAS tone and angiotensin II ATI-R antagonist such as losartan decreased IAS pressure. However the role of ATI-R antagonizing in the human sphincter is not known.
What is the aim of the project?
The aim of the project is to evaluate the effects of Telmisartan an ATI-R antagonist which has a half-life of 24 hours in anorectal physiology in patients with anal sphincter hypertension as well in a group of asymptomatic volunteers.
What techniques and methods are used?
A pilot study is performed in patients with ano sphincter hypertension and chronic proctalgia (according to Rome III ontena) and healthy subjects. All subjects undergoes a basal 3D resolution manometry, then they receive the drug and 2nd manometry is perfomed.
What is the role of the student?
- The tasks will be done under supervision
What are the tasks expected to be accomplished by the student?
.
Will there be any theoretical teaching provided (preliminary readings, lectures, courses, seminars etc)
1
What is expected from the student at the end of the research exchange? What will be the general outcome of the student?
- No specific outcome is expected
What skills are required of the student? Is there any special knowledge or a certain level of studies needed?
Requirements will be only the interest of the student, attendance and punctuality.
Are there any legal limitations in the student’s involvement
