What is the background of the project?
Alcoholism (or alcohol addiction) is one of the most widespread problems in the world and it leads to significant negative medical and social consequences. Aptitude to alcohol addiction is passed on from generation to generation genetically and psychodynamically. The Department of Psychiatry has got its own original know-how in psychotherapy of addictions and collaborates with European Association for Transaction Analysis.
What is the aim of the project?
The aim of the project is to study the transmission mechanism of the autoagressive-addictive radical in the families suffering from alcohol addiction from the perspective of narrative psychiatry.
What techniques and methods are used?
Methods of clinical interview and psychological test
What is the role of the student?
- The tasks of the student will be performed on his/her own
- The tasks will be done under supervision
What are the tasks expected to be accomplished by the student?
1. History taking and clinical examination of the patients; 2. Processing of the psychological test results; 3. Conduction of psychotherapeutic procedures
Will there be any theoretical teaching provided (preliminary readings, lectures, courses, seminars etc)
The students will be provided a lecture on narcology, importance of psychological mechanisms in aetiopathogenesis of alcohol addiction, psychotherapy of alcoholism
What is expected from the student at the end of the research exchange? What will be the general outcome of the student?
- The student will prepare a scientific report - The student’s name will be mentioned in a future publication
What skills are required of the student? Is there any special knowledge or a certain level of studies needed?
The student should have basic knowledge in psychotherapy, know how to take case history, describe clinical status, to do psychological tests. There are no legal limitations in the student
Are there any legal limitations in the student’s involvement
