What is the background of the project?
Documentation regarding the demographic and severity trends in the in-patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is an important indicator in possible changes to our patient population, and may be helpful in understanding healthcare needs and services.
What is the aim of the project?
The objective of this study is to identify whether there were changes in the demographics, disease severity, length of stay and co-morbid conditions among patients admitted with a primary diagnosis of COPD for short-term respiratory care at Mount Sinai Hospital (MSH) Center during the last decade i.e. comparing the year 2000 vs. 2013.

What is the role of the student?
- The student will observe the practical experiments but will be highly involved in the analysis of the results
