- Clinical Project without Laboratory work
What is the background of the project?
This clinical research project has been going on in the dermatology department of Sfax in order to study the different clinical profiles and determine the prevalence of the Skin Cancers in the concerned population in both the southern countries of the Mediterranean (the example of Tunisia) and those in the northern countries of the Mediterranean (Europe).
What is the aim of the project?
This project aims to detect the clinical and epidemiological differences between skin cancers in the southern countries of the Mediterranean (the example of Tunisia) and those in the northern countries of the Mediterranean (Europe) in order to determine the environmental factors involved in those cancers in both areas.
What techniques and methods are used?
Retrospective study of the concerned patients’ data, - Epidemiological study of the different -statistics about Skin Cancers in the concerned population in both areas, - Combining the different data collected in order to find the differences researched and -the different factors involved.
What is the role of the student?
- The student will observe the practical experiments but will be highly involved in the analysis of the results
- The tasks will be done under supervision
What are the tasks expected to be accomplished by the student?
Extract all data from medical records of patients with skin cancers, - Enter this data on a statistical software, - Carry out the statistical study and its interpretation.
Will there be any theoretical teaching provided (preliminary readings, lectures, courses, seminars etc)
Preliminary Readings will be provided to the exchange students in French or English
What is expected from the student at the end of the research exchange? What will be the general outcome of the student?
- The student will prepare a poster
What skills are required of the student? Is there any special knowledge or a certain level of studies needed?
There are no specific skills required other than the general clinical examination. - The exchange students participating in this project should already have an idea about the different types of skin cancers and have already studied dermatology or plastic surgery during his/her medical years. - There are no legal limitations in the student’s involvement in the project. PS: It would be better for the exchange student (coming from a European country) to have an access to equivalent data about skin cancers from his country. -Subjects passed: dermatology or plastic surgery
Are there any legal limitations in the student’s involvement
Type of students accepted
