What is the background of the project?
This project is the first of its kind in Sfax Hospitals as it introduces for the first time the new techniques of calculating the Systolic Pressure Index in the field of Arteritis diagnosis and the assessment of related cardiovascular risks.
What is the aim of the project?
This project aims to determine the prevalence of an abnormal Systolic Pressure Index in patients with Arteritis in order to assess the related cardiovascular risks.
What techniques and methods are used?
In order to calculate the Systolic Pressure Index in Arteritis patients, the techniques that will be used are: - Measuring their blood pressure which should already be known by the exchange student. - Analysis of hand , held Doppler ultrasound which will be introduced to the exchange student.
What is the role of the student?
- The student will mainly observe
- The tasks will be done under supervision
What are the tasks expected to be accomplished by the student?
-Clinical examinations -Data collecting -Data Analysis
Will there be any theoretical teaching provided (preliminary readings, lectures, courses, seminars etc)
Lectures and round-table discussions about the topic of this clinical research will be provided to the exchange students in French or English.
What is expected from the student at the end of the research exchange? What will be the general outcome of the student?
- The student will prepare a poster
What skills are required of the student? Is there any special knowledge or a certain level of studies needed?
- A white coat is obligatory for this clinical research project. - There are approximately 4 hours of work per day required. - The exchange students participating in this project should already have studied the subject of cardiovascular during their medical education and know how to measure blood pressure.
Are there any legal limitations in the student’s involvement
