Type of Research Project
- Basic science
What is the background of the project?
The main focus of our Biomedical research group is on the study of glial lineage tumors in the adult and pediatric populations. Glial lineage tumors are among the most common, and top-5 causes of cancer-related deaths. Unfortunately, despite current treatment modalites, the prognosis is still unfavorable among the majority of patients.
What is the aim of the project?
Will depend on the project that will be assigned to the student
What techniques and methods are used?
What is the role of the student?
- The student will mainly observe
- The student will observe the practical experiments but will be highly involved in the analysis of the results
- The tasks of the student will be performed on his/her own
- The tasks will be done under supervision
What are the tasks expected to be accomplished by the student?
Will depend on the project that will be assigned to the student
Will there be any theoretical teaching provided (preliminary readings, lectures, courses, seminars etc)
What is expected from the student at the end of the research exchange? What will be the general outcome of the student?
- The student will prepare a poster
- The student will prepare a presentation
- The student will prepare a scientific report
- The student will prepare an abstract
- The student will have the opportunity to present the results together with the supervisor at a conference
- No specific outcome is expected
What skills are required of the student? Is there any special knowledge or a certain level of studies needed?
A core knowledge in human biology either from the training in Medical School or in the University science program (graduate or undergraduate) is essential. Having at least some research experience skills will certainly benefit the successful outcome of the research program. Applicants with a higher level of academic and/or research experience are preferred, but varies depending on the merit of the applicant. Applicants must also justify why they are interested in the training and research program of Dr. Kamnasaran.
Are there any legal limitations in the student’s involvement
