Type of Research Project
- Clinical Project with Laboratory work
What is the background of the project?
Informal caregivers are persons who provide unpaid assistance to relatives and friends who have health problems or functional needs (especially elder dependent people). The influence of regular informal caregiving on health is the subject matter of an extensive, yet sometimes inconsistent, literature. Conventional assumption links caregiving to a decline in health through various pathways related to chronic stress, notably depressed immune state, greater cardiovascular reactivity and psychological distress. Coherent with this
What is the aim of the project?
to study the health and quality of life of informal caregivers epidemiologically.
What techniques and methods are used?
Health-related quality of life (HRQL) of selected geriatrics patients -statistical software (SAS, R, SPSS) -cohort studies
What is the role of the student?
- The tasks will be done under supervision
What are the tasks expected to be accomplished by the student?
- The student will participate in collecting data on patients by questionnaires, entering the data into the database, processing and performing preliminary statistical analysis, as well as interpretation of obtained results. The student will be able to acquire knowledge about statistical analysis and preparation of scientific paper.
Will there be any theoretical teaching provided (preliminary readings, lectures, courses, seminars etc)
Preliminary readings and geriatric seminars
What is expected from the student at the end of the research exchange? What will be the general outcome of the student?
- The student will prepare a scientific report
What skills are required of the student? Is there any special knowledge or a certain level of studies needed?
Basic knowledge of statistics and epidemiology methods.
Knowledge of at least one statistical software (SAS, R, SPSS) would be preferable.
Are there any legal limitations in the student’s involvement
