Type of Research Project
- Basic science
What is the background of the project?
In order to elucidate the mechanisms for microbial/viral pathogenesis, it is important to characterize the microbes/viruses at a molecular level. In our laboratory, studies are in progress on HIV, flaviviruses(e.g. Japanese encephalitis and Dengue), drug resistant bacteria, bacterial toxin-antitoxin system and pathogenic algae of Prototheca spp.
What is the aim of the project?
Please inquire us via your NORE
What techniques and methods are used?
Students will have hands on experiences of laboratory techniques in microbiology, molecular biology and cell biology.
What is the role of the student?
- The tasks will be done under supervision
What are the tasks expected to be accomplished by the student?
Please inquire us via your NORE
Will there be any theoretical teaching provided (preliminary readings, lectures, courses, seminars etc)
1
What is expected from the student at the end of the research exchange? What will be the general outcome of the student?
- The student will prepare a scientific report
What skills are required of the student? Is there any special knowledge or a certain level of studies needed?
Basic knowledge in the field of biology, molecular genetics and microbiology would be preferred, but not necessary.
Are there any legal limitations in the student’s involvement
No
