Molecular mechanism of morphogenesis in the yeast pathogen Candida albicans
Taiwan (FMS-Taiwan) - Chung Shan Medical University, Taichung
Department of Biomedical Sciences, Chung Shan Medical University.
English or Chinese
Type of Research Project
- Basic science
What is the background of the project?
1. Dissecting the mechanisms underlying morphological alterations and biofilm formation in Candida albicans. Specifically dissecting the functional role of Candida albicans CDC4, a structural homologue of Saccharomyces cerevisiae in the control of cell cycle via unbiquitination, whose absence leads to filamentous morphology. 2. Functional genomic approach to dissect the key elements in controlling morphogenesis. 3. Identification of genes involved in morphogenesis by proteomics approach, dominant negative genes selection, gene switch based on zinc finger libraries.
What is the aim of the project?
What techniques and methods are used?
What is the role of the student?
- The tasks will be done under supervision
What are the tasks expected to be accomplished by the student?
Will there be any theoretical teaching provided (preliminary readings, lectures, courses, seminars etc)
What is expected from the student at the end of the research exchange? What will be the general outcome of the student?
- No specific outcome is expected
What skills are required of the student? Is there any special knowledge or a certain level of studies needed?
The minimum and maximum length of duration of the research exchange period: Minimum:4 weeks; maximum: 12 weeks.
Are there any legal limitations in the student’s involvement
Type of students accepted
This project accepts: - Medical students - Graduated students (less than 6 months)
