What is the background of the project?
Aim of the project is to test the toxicity of natural substances which are potential drugs using in vitro methods. Core method is cell culture; toxicity will be evaluated by employing enzyme activity essays and also immunodetection. Secondary aim is standardization of methods employed to meet Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) criteria.

Core method is cell culture; toxicity will be evaluated by employing enzyme activity essays and also immunodetection.

What are the tasks expected to be accomplished by the student?
The student will be a member of a research team and it is expected that he(she) will participate in the experimental work from culturing the cells to collecting toxicity data.

What is expected from the student at the end of the research exchange? What will be the general outcome of the student?
What skills are required of the student? Is there any special knowledge or a certain level of studies needed?
Preparation and maintenance of sterile solutions, working in sterile rooms. It is helpful to have experience with microscopy and/or digital photography, certain knowledge of cell morphology.
