Type of Research Project
- Basic science
What is the background of the project?
The purpose of the project is to provide to the student a high quality training in areas such as bioinformatics, basic techniques of recombinant DNA and genetic expression analysis in eukaryotic cells
What is the aim of the project?
The aim of this project is research about aspects in evolution, regulation, functions, dysfunctions and application of the genes and promoters of the GH
What techniques and methods are used?
Cloning and sequentiation of the genes of the loci, bioinformatics analysis of the generated sequences, sub-cloning of regulatory candidate elements, functional analysis of regulatory candidate elements, sub-cloning of regulatory candidate elements, functional analysis of each one of the genes involved in the study, dissection of the possible mutation of pseudogenes of the loci, sub-cloning of the structural genes to overexpress the hormones, development of the process of fermentation for each hormone, purification and characterization of the recombinant hormones, laboratory bioassays for the recombinant purified hormones.
What is the role of the student?
- The tasks will be done under supervision
What are the tasks expected to be accomplished by the student?
Will there be any theoretical teaching provided (preliminary readings, lectures, courses, seminars etc)
What is expected from the student at the end of the research exchange? What will be the general outcome of the student?
- The student will prepare a scientific report
What skills are required of the student? Is there any special knowledge or a certain level of studies needed?
Preferably having laboratory experience in some of the above mentioned activities
Are there any legal limitations in the student’s involvement
Type of students accepted
This project accepts: - Medical students
