What is the background of the project?
Filariasis is a disease caused by filariae, nematode parasites of the order Filariidae. In Lymphatic Filariasis, repeated episodes of inflammation and lymphedema lead to lymphatic damage, chronic swelling, and elephantiasis of the legs and other parts of the body. This project is aimed at studying basic application for diagnosis of Lymphatic filariasis using molecular biology and immunology techniques as an introduction to the disease. Methods used include ELISA, western blot analysis, PCR, cloning, sequencing data analysis, and bioinformatics.
