Here in our unit of bone marrow transplantation we are working on the epidemiology & prevalence of bone marrow solid tumors and the percentages of transplantations in comparison with the tumors by conducting a randomized study.
What is the aim of the project?
We are working on the epidemiology & prevalence of bone marrow solid tumors and the percentages of transplantations in comparison with the tumors. Our aim is that to know the effectiveness of autologous bone marrow transplantation in some malignant solid tumors in children.
What techniques and methods are used?
Criteria for Enrollmen; patients less than 65 years old. The patient were randomly assigned to the research protocol. The response is defined by complete remission on electrophoresis. Then statistical analysis of the results.

- The student will mainly observe
- The student will observe the practical experiments but will be highly involved in the analysis of the results
- The tasks will be done under supervision
What are the tasks expected to be accomplished by the student?
The students will collect data about the prevalence of the disease after that they will do analysis of these data and data entry and finally interpretation into research paper. Also, the student will do clinical observation at the department but under supervision by the doctor and may do some clinical work after doctor’s permission.
Will there be any theoretical teaching provided (preliminary readings, lectures, courses, seminars etc)
Introduction seminar about the work process, what we already did and what we will do.
What is expected from the student at the end of the research exchange? What will be the general outcome of the student?
- The student will prepare a scientific report
What skills are required of the student? Is there any special knowledge or a certain level of studies needed?
Student must have a background about Haematology and Oncology in pediatrics with some information about immunology.
Are there any legal limitations in the student’s involvement
