What is the background of the project?
Description of the Project : The main purpose is to elucidate the mechanism of how host defense system bridges over the chasm between the innate immunity and acquired immunity during the early phase of microbial infection.
The main question is as follows. MHC types of individual hosts are thought to determine the outcome of infection by regulating the development of acquired immunity against microbial infection. In order to establish the acquired immunity, however, transition from the innate response to the initiation of specific immunity should occur without delay. This transition kick off without any undesirable responses in most of healthy hosts, while in some individuals initial innate responses often expand to an undue extent, resulting in affecting this transition.
What is the aim of the project?
The present study is addressed to prove the hypothesis that the degree of initial innate responses is critical for the establishment of specific immunity.
