What is the background of the project?
Patients with cardio-, cerebro- and peripheral vascular diseases are involved in our studies. The following hemorheological parameters are detected: hematocrit in microhematocrit centrifuge, plasma and whole blood viscosity in capillary viscosimeter, red blood cell aggregation in optical erythrocyte aggregometer, red blood cell deformability in erythrocyte filtrometer. The effectiveness of antiplatelet medication is measured as in vitro platelet aggregability to several stimulators in optical platelet aggregometer. Endothelial dysfunction is investigated through von Willebrand factor activity by ELISA.
Free radical scavenger and antiplatelet activity of drugs and experimental agents are studied in in vitro filtration and platelet aggregation models.
