What is the background of the project?
The purpose is to provide updated information about possibilities in the skin losses treatment. What is the aim of the project? The aim of the project is to post up students in the treatment of extensive skin loses What techniques and methods will be used? Temporary skin coverage: textile, synthetic and biological covers. Other methods of interest: skin banking. Practice in the operating theatre: permanent skin closure - autografting, skin expansion methods. Practice in cultivation laboratory: in vitro cell cultivation - keratinocytes and fibroblasts, preparation of confluent epidermal grafts for clinical purposes, interaction of cells with synthetic polymers. Will there be any theoretical teaching provided (preliminary readings, lectures, courses, seminars etc)? Literature: Herndon DN, Total Burn Care, 3rd edition , W.B.Saunders 2007
