Type of Research Project
- Clinical Project with Laboratory work
What is the background of the project?
The student will be working in the labaratory him/herself and will get familiarized with the
methods. This project is part of a big project that should find out the genetic corelations between the different etnic groups on the Balkan Peninsula. Also ,this includes proclinical-detection of the HLA associated diseases (eg. Morbus Becterew).
What is the aim of the project?
Student will clasify the familly penetration of the genetic illness forms. Statistics as outcome.
What techniques and methods are used?
Sequence based typing is one of the standard high resolution methods for HLA -DNA typing.Procedures needed are PCR amplification of HLA region and direct sequencing of the product using automated DNA sequencer.
What is the role of the student?
- If the project includes “lab work”
- the student will take active part in the practical aspect of the project
What are the tasks expected to be accomplished by the student?
Will there be any theoretical teaching provided (preliminary readings, lectures, courses, seminars etc)
What is expected from the student at the end of the research exchange? What will be the general outcome of the student?
- No specific outcome is expected
- The student will have the opportunity to present the results together with the supervisor at a conference
What skills are required of the student? Is there any special knowledge or a certain level of studies needed?
Biology, Genetics ,Biochemistry ,some practical skills in lab working.
Passed immunology as well
Are there any legal limitations in the student’s involvement
