Clerkship Type
- Clinical Clerkship
A clinical clerkship is defined as the rotation of a student in a clinical department of a hospital or clinic, such as Dermatology and Pediatrics.
Required level of studies
Students who have already started clinical clerkship. 
In LC Rangsit, however, preclinical students are accepted in every department except for Pediatrics and Surgery. 

Graduated students are accepted only if AFs are sent prior to the students' graduation date.

Even if accepted by the hosting country, students must be still enrolled in university by the time the Application Form is sent.

- You may take up to 20% off ONLY IF you reach a prior agreement with your professor. 
Respect, good conduct, academic curiosity, and punctuality are values we would like our incoming to perform regularly, especially to professors and hospital officers.
- Dress code
Ladies: Polite blouses, knee-length skirts or trousers (subdue/neutral color are preferable)
Gents: Short or long-sleeved shirts, trousers (subdue/neutral color are preferable)
Jeans are considered inappropriate by some departments or professors.
Shoes: Shoes that cover your toes and heel. No sandals. High heels should be less than 2 inches.

For more specific dress code information, please contact your LEO.

*Failure to fulfill clinical duty (80-100 percent of attendance depending on an agreement with your professor), misbehavior, or neglect of warning and condition notified by the staff of LCs can result in no certificate issuance or immediate cancellation of clinical clerkship.

Cities Remarks
  1. LCs are divided into 3 tiers: A, B, C. 
    • Tier A: Chulalongkorn, Ramathibodi, Siriraj
    • Tier B: Rangsit, Vajira, Srinakarinwirote 
    • Tier C: Khonkaen, Songkla, Chiang Mai 
  2. Students are required to choose only 1 LC from each tier. Otherwise, your AF will be sent back. 
  3. Be aware that the desired city is only a list of preferences and that we CANNOT guarantee that you will be placed in one of those desired cities.
  4. Be reminded that we distribute our incomings based on a first-come-first-served basis AND a motivation letter. 

Specific remarks for each LC:

  • For LC Chulalongkorn, there is a limited number of clerkships providable per month. Thus, we only accept applications for FULL CALENDAR MONTHS. Sending the application form as early as possible is also highly recommended.

  • If your home university requires you to practice only in any specific department, please make sure the condition is clearly stated on your AF to spare the LCs of any extra work in case your department of choice is not available.
  • Each department of each LC may have specific preference for students. We strongly recommend you to choose at least one General/Surgical department.

Social Program

The Local Social Programs will be provided to incoming students by the LCs and the contact persons at their own discretion. Some universities may hold monthly international parties within their faculties.

However, if you are going to be joining us in our most crowded months, which are July and August, please stay tuned for the National Social Program and also the registration process at our Facebook page and Instagram account (@scopeandscore_th).

Payment details for unilateral fee
The unilateral fee should be brought to the LEO upon arrival. In case of failure to do so, the student should have the amount transferred to the LEO as soon as possible. The transaction fee must also be covered by the student. 
Visa requirements
We can provide an Invitation Letter and other documents if required. Please contact us through your NEO.

Please request additional documents at least 7 weeks before the exchange starts or 5 weeks before applying for your visa.
A hard copy of an invitation letter can be issued by some universities.

*As of now, the issuing of hard copy of invitation letters in most universities is a process that takes time. Please contact the NEO and LEO as soon as possible for further information.

**Visa upon entry is not recommended. Please read additional information from the Thai embassy and proceed at your own cost.

The visa type required for doing a clerkship in Thailand is the Non-immigrant visa subtype ED.

Climate

If you're planning to arrive during March and April - things that cannot be forgotten are your sunglasses, sunscreen, and swimming suit. It's our summer time! 

But if you're visiting Thailand from late June to September - it might be a little rainy. Umbrellas or raincoats will be very handy

Immunization requirements
No, but advisable to have vaccine for Tetanus and Diphtheria, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Rabies, Typhoid, Hepatitis A, and Hepatitis B.

Insurance
As NMO, we require health insurance OR travel health insurance.
However, this insurance CANNOT be arranged in our country and should be arranged in your home country.
Please make sure that your health insurance covers you for COVID-19. 

For LC Songkla, please submit the health insurance with your AF. 
For other LCs, the deadline is together with the CC.
The hard copy of your health insurance must be presented upon arrival. 


Please upload the health insurance document to the database and send a copy to the LEO or contact person prior to your departure.
If you do not have any health insurance, you will have to cover all the medical expenses by yourself.
The LC and IFMSA-Thailand will not be held responsible for any of your healthcare costs.

Students applying for LC Ramathibodi and LC Khonkaen should fill out the respective extra form (Documents can be found in this link) and send them to neo@ifmsa-th.org (Please don't send the form to the hospital office unless we contact you to do so.)

CA will be sent 8 weeks before the start of the exchange along with the student's invitation letter. Please check all the details in your CA and contact your contact persons as soon as you can.

*Due to the COVID-19 situation, the CA deadline has been compromised to 6 weeks before the start of the exchange. This will be in effect until further notice. We do not encourage buying tickets before receiving CAs.

**You may be contacted to fill in other specific forms by some LCs (registration form, dormitory form, etc.). Please be punctual and cooperative with LEO.

Cancellation can be made, at the latest, 4 weeks prior to the start of the exchange. NEO should be notified as soon as possible. In case of cancellation, no amount will be refunded.

Substitute student’s documents should be sent to the NEO-incoming after an agreement.

The substitute LC and department may differ from the previous student's. In Thailand, professors accept students one by one, so substitutes do not have the rights to instantly replace the previous student.

Special remarks
Due to the COVID-19 situation, students are required to stay in 2-week state quarantine before starting the exchange. 
Also, the 4-week exchange duration excludes the 2-week quarantine period.
