Please rank the 3 different LCs from your most favourite to your least favourite.
We might place couples/friends in the same city. Please approach us prior to uploading your AF. Even though we can't guarantee it, we will try our best to fulfill your wishes.

Disciplines Remarks
Failing to comply with the rules of IFMSA/ALEM Luxembourg/NEO/LEO and or hospital/doctors/hosts at any terms might get you suspended from your exchange. You will need to sign a waiver of liability and bring it to your first meeting with the Local Officer.

You have to choose 4 different departments in your AF.

Additionally, you cannot choose 4 Internal Medicine departments, nor 4 Surgery departments. So if you apply, you can only put a maximum of 3 Internal Medicine or Surgery departments IN ADDITION TO a department from another field.

e.g.:
1.) Internal Medicine - Cardiology
2.) Internal Medicine - Pulmonology
3.) Internal Medicine - Gastroenterology
4.) Dermatology (NOT INTERNAL MEDICINE)

If you don't apply for 4 different departments or more than 3 Internal Medicine/Surgery departments your AF will be sent back.
In case you were placed in a city that does not offer the department that you had chosen, we will try to offer you a similar one.

Visa requirements

As a general rule, the visa application must be submitted in the country in which the applicant legally resides, at a Luxembourg consulate or a diplomatic mission representing Luxembourg. Should there be no Luxembourg consulate in that country, and should Luxembourg not be represented there, the application must be submitted at the consulate with territorial competence for visa applications.

You may find more information on this websitehttps://guichet.public.lu/en/citoyens/immigration/moins-3-mois/ressortissant-tiers/entree-visa.html

For most students a tourist visa shall be sufficient as we apply for the work permit of our incoming students. This, however, may be up to change and cannot be guaranteed by ALEM Luxembourg. In case of uncertainty, please refer to the Luxembourgish embassy directly to inquire which kind of visa is needed.

Once the student has started the application process, we can provide additional documents that are required by the Luxembourgish embassy upon request by the sending NEO-Out.

Special Remarks
Many of our students get placed in shared flats. In such cases, it is possible, that you will be sharing the flat, the bathrooms and the kitchen (not your room) with people of the opposite sex. If you have any problems regarding this, please state so in your AF. We sign contracts for the flats as soon as possible, so if you request at a later point, you will have to provide for the extra expenses of a new flat or hostel room, be aware that hostels can be very expensive in Luxembourg).

  • Professional Liability and Malpractice insurance

These insurances should be purchased in your home country and be valid for Luxembourg.

Deadline
12 Weeks

Special remarks
  1. Please upload 2 different letters of motivation. We need them to place you in the most suitable department, so please take some time to write them. Tutors may make their intern selection based upon them. Please note that the motivational letters should be written in a formal language and format and should be addressed to the tutors of the chosen department (not the NEOs/LEOs/CPs).
  1. Your Card of Documents has to be complete when sending the Application Form. Applications without the required documents will NOT be considered.
  1. You can download the SCOPE Terms and Conditions here: link to the ALEM-website where the SCOPE Terms and Conditions can be found -> not realised yet
  1. We only recognize certified English language tests. In case ALEM Luxembourg has some doubts about the accuracy of the stated language level, we keep ourselves the option to request an online meeting and reject the student's application in more extreme cases.
