A clinical clerkship is defined as the rotation of a student in a clinical department of a hospital or clinic, such as Dermatology and Pediatrics.

 Applicants should normally have completed the first clinical year of the programme (Medicine) or pre-clinical years.

UWI Medical Faculty working requirements: Students must at all times conduct and present themselves in a manner in keeping with the nature of the profession for which they are in training. Any student who is not appropriately attired will not be attended to by staff in the Dean’s Office, Hospital or Departments. Student ID cards or pins must be displayed at all times, when on Regional Health authorities premises. Student ID cards are required to facilitate all transactions in the Faculty/ University.

The standard documents are the basic documents that the students are asking for and the special documents are less important, as only some Local Committees ask for them. So it's mandatory to upload the standard documents, but not the special ones. (Students do it when asked for by the LEO/NEO.)
The upon arrival documents are hard copies documents that the students are requested to take with them in the host country.”
Immunization requirements

MMR, DTPV, Polio, Hepatitis A, TB screening test, Typhoid and Yellow Fever. 


Insurance

Students are required to arrange/purchase their own health insurance/malpractice indemnity for the duration of the exchange period.

 Questions to ask your current health insurance provider:

  1. Will I be covered for doctor's visits, specialists, hospitals, and pharmacies while I am outside of my home country?
  2. Will I be covered for emergencies and non-emergencies in a foreign hospital?

There are limited spots available for each month and hospital . Therefore, it is recommended to submit your Application Form as soon as possible. While every effort will be made to accommodate students in the department/unit requested, placements in either the primary specialty or subspecialty area cannot always be guaranteed. Applicants are therefore requested to indicate a secondary specialty. The location(s) of the discipline may also vary upon arrival in Trinidad, depending on the number of clinical students and the time of the year.
