OVERVIEW
Nigeria is known as the "giant of Africa" owing to the large population and economy. With about 184 million inhabitants, Nigeria is the most populous country in Africa and the 7th most populous in the world.
Nigeria has the highest population of youth in the world. It is also a multinational country with diverse ethnic groups with Igbo,hausa and yoruba being the largest.
The official language in Nigeria is English. Religiously,the Christians inhibits majorly the southern part of Nigeria while the Muslims inhibits the northern part.
Nigeria is the 20th largest economy in the world.
Nigeria is the founding member of the common wealth of nations,African union,OPEC and United nations among other international organisations. 


HEALTH CARE SYSTEM
The health care system in Nigeria is manged by the 3 tiers of government. 
The federal government is in charge of the federal teaching hospitals,fedral medical centers(tertiary health care).
The state government is in charge of the general hospitals(secondary healthcare).
The local government manages the dispensaries (primary health care). They are regulated by the government through NPHCDA.
In may 1999,nigeria created the national health insurance scheme which encompasses the organised  private sectors,government employee and informal sectors. It also covers children under the age of five,permently disabled and inmates.

MEDICAL EDUCATION
There are several medical schools in Nigeria which include the federal universities, the state universities and the private universities. Each located in various parts of the country. You can check out the various medical schools in Nigeria on Wikipedia.
TRANSPORTATION
Your arrival to your hospital of allocation for the electives and SCORE research would not be a problem, all we need is your schedule of travel and we will be at the airport to welcome you.
Within Nigeria, there are several means of transportation which majorly include roads and air. In the coastal areas, boats are also used. The means of transport in Nigeria is mostly cheap and very affordable.
SOCIAL PROGRAM
For now, there is no national social programme for our incomings, However, a send forth party may be conducted towards the end of your research/ elective period.
Social programmes may be organised in collaboration with the local exchange officers in the various schools which might include cultural nights, health weeks,excursions,tour,etc.
MUST SEE
The must see in Nigeria includes the famous rivers Niger and benue which provides the rich agricultural Base in Nigeria,The yankari game reserve, the olumo rock, the Attah Igala's palace, the old lugard house, and several others including the rich cultural heritage in Nigeria.
I know you will as well love to visit the Obudu cattle ranch and Tinapa Resort all in Cross River state, Nigeria. We have got a lot of other interesting places to visit, just touch down Nigeria and it will all be fun.
CULTURAL DIFFERENCES
Owing to the diverse ethnic groups in Nigeria,Cultural diversity exists making Nigeria rich in cultural heritage. 
There are varities of local foods,dresses,greetings,hairstyles etc in Nigeria. You cannot run out of new and fun local things in Nigeria.
OTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Nigerians are one of the most accommodatin, fun and interesting people you'll ever meet. An average Nigerian has a very good sense of humour. They find time to relax despite the economic challenges in the whole world.
A sunscreen would be an important item for use while coming to Nigeria because a tan is mostly inevitable.
