OVERVIEW

Bangladesh , officially the People's Republic of Bangladesh is a country in South Asia. It shares land borders with India and Myanmar. Bangladesh is the 92nd-largest sovereign state in the world, with an area of 147,570 square kilometers It is also the world's 8th-most populous country, as well as one of its most densely-populated. Dhaka is its capital and largest city, and is also the economic, political and the cultural center of Bangladesh, followed by Chittagong, which has the country's largest port.

 Our nation was first part of the East Pakistan in 1945 , but as we have struggled for our mother tongue and mother land we achieved independence in 1971, after a 9 months long war against Pakistan sacrificing 3 million martyrs.

The country's geography is dominated by the Bengal delta, the largest delta in the world. Bangladesh is a riverine country. The country has many rivers and 8,046 km (5,000 mi) of inland waterways. Highlands with evergreen forests are found in the northeastern and southeastern regions of the country. The country also has the longest sea beach and the largest mangrove forest in the world. The country's biodiversity includes a vast array of plants and wildlife, including the endangered Bengal tiger, the national animal.

HEALTH CARE SYSTEM

To ensure equitable healthcare to every residing human in Bangladesh, an extensive network of health services has been established following the administrative web of Bangladesh. It is a circuitous form of healthcare network spread across the country ranging from policy-making bodies to healthcare facilities down to the community level. Infrastructure of healthcare facilities can be divided into three levels: Medical University, Medical College Hospitals, Specialized Hospitals exist at Tertiary Level. District Hospitals, Mother and Child Welfare Centers considered as Secondary Level. Upazila (Sub District) Health Complex, Union Health & Family Welfare Centers, Community Clinics (Lowest-level healthcare facilities) are the Primary Level healthcare providers. Various NGOs (Non-Government Organization) and private institutions also contribute to this intricate network.

MEDICAL EDUCATION

The colleges are under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), and are affiliated with a university on the respective region. They however have to be recognized after meeting a set criterion by a central regulatory authority called Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council (BM&DC). There are total 90 recognized medical colleges in Bangladesh, 36 of which are public and 54 private. Apart from these, there are six medical colleges which are run by the Bangladesh Armed Forces and are under the Ministry of Defence.

All the medical colleges award the Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS). The Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Master of Surgery (MS) is awarded as a postgraduate research degree in selected medical colleges and universities, following the medical tradition of Commonwealth countries.

Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) is the first medical university in Bangladesh. It offers only postgraduate degrees (MD, PhD, MS, MPhil, MDS, Diploma and FCPS Courses).

TRANSPORTATION

In the city CNG, Taxi is available to travel. In case of intercity or interdivision travel, buses and trains are always available. Besides we have ride sharing apps like UBER, Pathao, OBHAI to travel in capital city.

Upon arriving in Hajrat Shah Jalal International Airport, Dhaka, a local officer will accompany you to reach your destination. NO and LOs will always keep in touch with you and also will ensure your safety. Transportation costs will be provided.

SOCIAL PROGRAM

In every weekends depending on the weather and situation we will arrange a tour in the city or shopping trips. If possible we’ll arrange a tour on a distance place to see the beauty of our country. During the exchange period if there is any festival going on, you are always welcome to participate.

MUST SEE

 Every division is rich in historical places. Don’t miss to visit your nearby places. If possible do have a trip to Cox’s Bazar or Sylhet. That’ll be an experience of a lifetime.

CULTURAL DIFFERENCES

 Basic proficiency in English is required.

Formal dress code with an apron or white coat is a must in hospital.

Smoking is prohibited in public places.

Drugs and alcoholic drinks are forbidden.

Friday is the official weekend.
