Welcome to Puerto Montt!
Puerto Montt is a city in the south of Chile, located north of the island of Chiloe, which grows very fast because of the salmon industry. It has magnificent views of the ocean and towering peaks of the Andes Montains, and is a hub for travelers heading further south along the Carretera Austral, or east to Argentina..
The weather in Puerto Montt is mostly rainy, cold and frozen most of the year, standing in winter with temperatures ranging from 0 ° to 10 °, with rain, frost, but the snow is rare(usually happens just in the volcano). The perfect month to visist Puerto Montt is January, during summer but if you want to enjoy a freezing winter, you would be more than welcome. In summer it is mostly sunny with temperatures from 5° to 22°, mornings and evenings are very cool. We recommend the use waterproof cloth, water shoes or boots and warm clothing.
