Popularly known as "the land of champions" - it harbours great athletes of the world, Eldoret Town is located 300 km North west of Nairobi. It's a beautiful and peaceful town on an agricultural setting. The climate is generally warm and temperate.
UNIVERSITY AND HOSPITALS
Moi University, College of Health Sciences is situated right next to Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital, Eldoret. The Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital is the second largest Referral Hospital in Kenya offering various outpatients and inpatients services. With the recent establishment of The Riley Mother and Baby hospital, the Shoe4Africa Pediatric Unit and the Chandaria Cancer and Chronic Disease Centre, Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital continues to provide better public health care for the residents of Eldoret the country at large.
RESEARCH PROJECTS AND LABS
You will be provided with enough pocket money to cover at least 1 meal per day.
Students will be accommodated either at the student hostels or at a private accommodation.
The public transport system is generally good and affordable. This is mainly via mini-buses indigenously referred to as "matatus''. For the adventurous lot, ''bodabodas'' which are basically motorcycles, are readily available and efficient especially when avoiding traffic( not recommended for long distances though). Taxis are also available( Disclaimer, no uber though :-( )
The landscape as you travel across Eldoret and it's environs is already a mind-blowing experience in itself. Viewing the Great Rift Valley via Kerio View point is particular adventure you wouldn't want to miss. The scenery is absolutely breathtaking...and for the athletes, the high altitude is perfect for practice.
