OVERVIEW

¡CHIMBOTE, CITY OF FISHING AND STEEL!
A city of hospitable people,of good heart and above all of solidarity. You will find our beautiful Isla Blanca, our
average temperature in summer is 28°C, and in winter 13°C.It is located on the northcentral coast of Peru.7
hours from the capital by road.

UNIVERSITY AND HOSPITALS

” Universidad Nacional del Santa” is the most important university in the Department of Ancash. La Caleta
Hospital provides health services to a large part of the population, being one of the largest providers of services
in our area.

RESEARCH PROJECTS AND LABS

The Hospital La Caleta, has the necessary laboratories to be able to make a correct diagnosis of the patient and
to provide an adequate knowledge to the student.

BOARDING

Your lodging will be at a host family, often is located closer to the Hospital. They will provide you at least two
meals per day. They and your contact person will make your transportation to downtown and your hospital
easy.

LODGING

You will be staying in the student's family home. You will have basic services: water, electricity, internet, etc. It
is only asked to respect and comply with the rules of coexistence of the house in which you stay.
You must contact the LEO and the host as soon as you receive your reception card, you can ask any questions.

TRANSPORTATION

The easiest way to get to the city is by bus (we recommend CRUZ DE SUR or some VIP service, for the safety of
your luggage) or you can also hire some private mobility.
LOCAL TRANSPORTATION:
- Collective cars. There are many collective cars in the city, there are many routes so you can easily go wherever
you want. The fee is from 0.5 to 1 dollar.
- Mototaxis. They are typical cars of some cities, for example in Ica. They are very cheap, it's like 0.5 - 0.8
dollars.
- Taxis. They are expensive, but safer and faster. You can take a taxi if you arrive late or around midnight, for
example. The fee is from 2 to 6.5 dollars; depending on the distance.

SOCIAL PROGRAM

We have an excellent social program, with two activities per week, including parties, dinners, walks, among
others.
The student can schedule trips outside the city on his own, for which we guide him. Peru is a country with a
truly varied and beautiful culture!
Students can travel to Cajamarca, Huaraz,Ica, Arequipa, Cusco, Puno and the jungle (they are our
recommendations).

MUST SEE

The most important places to see in the city and around the city.
La Isla Blanca
The White Island is a small island of Peru
located in the Pacific Ocean, in the Bay of
Chimbote. In Chimbote tours are made
around this island since we can observe
the sea lions and have access to one of
the many beautiful beaches that are in
our town.
Beach Las conchuelas
It is a beach with crystal clear waters,
good weather and an impressive view. It's
the Las Conchuelas spa,
In addition to the clarity of its waters, the
sand of this beach also attracts attention.

Tour operators argue that it is actually
shells that have been crushed over time.
After cooling off swimming on the beach,
visitors can hike and climb the imposing
White Island, from where you can
appreciate a breathtaking view of the city
of Chimbote.
