OVERVIEW
Shri Guru Ram Rai Institute of Medical & Health Sciences, Dehradun was propelled to success by the present Sajjada Nashin Sri Mahant Devendra Das Ji, the successor of the highest seat of Udaseen Sect. He dedicated this institution to the name of Sri Guru Ram Rai ji Maharaj, the eldest son of the seventh Guru of the Sikhs- Sri Har Raiji. Shri Guru Ram Rai Ji established his DERA in Doon valley which later became popular as DEHRA and thus Dehradun owes its name and history to the emergence of Sri Guru Ram Raiji's "Dera" in 1676 in area now called Dehradun. 

SGRRIM&HS is stretched over a gigantic 30 acres of land. The institute have 150 seats in MBBS and 96 seats in Postgraguate(MD/MS). A team of dedicated and learned faculty makes this institution a centre of excellence for medical education. Lecture theatres, laboratories, museums and dissection hall are all fitted with the utmost modern equipments to facilitate learning in students, so as to enable these apprentice doctors to deal efficiently with delicate human machinery in future. All departments comprise of computer facilities including a campus wide LAN internet system. Students have been provided with very comfortable hostel and mess facilities. They are always encouraged to avail facilities of the central library, sports and to participate in extracurricular activities of the college. Students along with faculties are also, taken to visit remote villages to impart community health services, regularly. Spacious and well ventilated residences of the faculties within the beautiful surrounding of the college campus make a contented stay.
 
 
UNIVERSITY AND HOSPITALS
The associated Shri Mahant Indiresh hospital is a 1000 bedded multi specialty and superspeciality hospital situated in the heart of the city nearly 2 km from both the railway station & bus terminal. The Hospital caters to about 2000 patients on a daily basis under the direct supervision & humane touch of the medical specialists. The staff of the hospital includes about 300 doctors and 500 paramedicals. Facilities of latest MRI, 3D CT scan, Digital X-Rays, utmost modern diagnostic equipments in central reference laboratory, full fledged ICU with a number of ventilators, dialysis unit, plastic & burn unit, neurology and urological units, medical retina unit with laser treatment and above all 24 hrs emergency & trauma units are available. Similarly all the other specialties in the hospital impart quality patient care.

Recently a complex of 17 ultra modern operation theaters at par with international standard has become functional, along with a vast & impressive building, in order to advance the functioning and handle the increased crowd of patients in the hospital from this valley and surrounding hilly regions

BOARDING
It has its own; high quality modern hostels, with round the clock security and pleasant surroundings. There are separate buildings for boys and girls. On campus hostels enable students to spend ample amount of time to pursue their academic study and hospital training Generally, the rooms are allotted on a first come first served basis.
All entrants are therefore advised to apply for hostels as soon as they Join The Institute.

LODGING
State of the art Mess and Food Court spread out in the area of 41900Sq ft in two floors. The facility of canteen can be availed by Teachers, students & Other staff. Canteen is open from  7.00 am to 11.00pm. Snacks & refreshments are available at a very reasonable cost.
TRANSPORTATION

University Buses are available regularly on specified routes from city to the university for the staff and students at subsidized rate. Buses are provided Monday through Sunday. Please note that there are separate schedules for weekdays and weekends. The weekend schedule is normally in operation during holidays, unless otherwise stated. Schedules are displayed at the Notice Board and Security Office.
