Huanuco is the city of the “Los caballeros de  León de Huánuco” . Situated in the sierra and central jungle of Peru. Limiting to the north with La Libertad and San Martín, to the north and east with Ucayali, to the south with Pasco, to the southwest with Lima and to the west with Áncash. Huanuco has an average temperature of 24 ° C, called by its own and visitors as "The city of the best climate in the world". The lowest temperature is in the winter, that is to say in the months of July and August of 21 ° C in the day and 17 ° C in the nights. The typical dishes are fish, dried meat, bananas, yuccas, corn, hen of the mount, cuy, cecina, pig.  The “Pachamanca” is one of the classic dishes of Huánuco, seasoned with chincho, a peculiar herb of the place.

The meat most used is the ram and secondly the piglet; accompanied by potatoes, manioc.


The Hermilio Valdizán National University was created on January 11, 1961. Has an average of 11,000 students. Have 14  faculties. The hospital "Hermilio Valdizan" belonging to the Minsa is a model public health service hospital and the EsSalud hospital is a private system with enough environments for professional development . Both with the objective of teaching.


Your lodging will be at a host family, located very closer to the Hospital. They will provide you at least two meals per day. They are not required to give you more, although they might do. They also provide you with all the equipment to cook your own food.

The most frequent places to eat are: “Facucho”, “Huapri”, “Tradiciones Huanuqueñas”, “Jakarandá”, “La olla de barro”

The most frequent places to drink are: “La shacteria”, “trapiche” “El fundo”

All rooms are independent with electricity, water, internet, we hope that the student can feel at home.

You can get by public transport:

- Collective Cars. There are many collective cars on the city, there are many routes so you can easily go wherever you want. The fare is like 0.5 dollar.

- Mototaxis. They are typical cars of some cities, for example in Huanuco. They are very cheap, is like  0.8 dollars

- Taxis. They are expensive but safer and fast, you can take a taxi if you’re late or at midnight for example. The fare is like 2 dollars.


We organize social program 1 time each weekend in the months of August .

It is considered one of the oldest temples in Peru and in America (dating from 4000 years ago), since it was investigated in 1958 by the archaeological mission of the University of Tokyo by Dr. Seiichi Izumi



Tingo María is a city on the Huallaga River, in central Peru, between the Andean mountains and the Amazon jungle. Here is the Tingo María National Park that has an abundant biodiversity and is known for the Sleeping Beauty, a mountain in the shape of a woman lying down. In addition, here is the Cueva de las Lechuzas, which houses birds called "guacharos". Some of the local waterfalls are Santa Carmen, with a natural pool, and Gloriapata, which is accessed through a suspended bridge

Archaeological complex of Huánuco

Archaeological complex of Huánuco  is located 134 kilometers from the city. It is an ancient Inca city  that shows streets, houses and buildings.

In addition to the east side, there is the Inca Wasi which was the Inca residence and another part the Baños del Inca.

Archaeological Complex of Garu or Yarowilca:

The Archaeological Complex of Garu or Yarowilca  was considered a political and administrative center of the Yarowilcas, one of the most organized settlements of the pre-Inca period.

It is located in the foothills of the central mountain range called ”Cóndor waganan” . It is characterized by its streets in the form of labyrinths, currently marked for tourists .
