The city of Cusco, located in the Andes mountain r ange at 3 399 meter s above sea level, expands
thr ough the valley that f or ms the Huatanay River and the sur r ounding hills. I ts climate is gener ally dr y and template. I t has two def ined seasons: a dr y one between Apr il and October , with sunny days, cold nights with f r osts and an aver age temper atur e of 13 ° C; and a r ainy one, f r om November to Mar ch, aver age temper atur e 12 ° C. On sunny days, the temper atur e r eaches 20 ° C, although the light wind of the mountain is usually cold.
I t was declar ed the Histor ical Capital of Peru, being an impressive sample of high Inca engineering whose main tool was stone. As well as places like Choquequirao, Sacsayhuaman, Qenko, Tambomachay, Ollantaytambo and especially Machu Picchu, architectural jewel built with the wisdom of the ancient Incas that served as political, religious and administrative center of the time.

Machu Picchu is an Inca citadel located in the heights of the Andes Mountains of Peru (2,450m), on the Urubamba River valley. It was built in the fifteenth century, is famous for its sophisticated dry stone walls that combine huge blocks without the use of a mortar, the fascinating buildings that are related to the astronomical alignments and its panoramic views.
SALINERAS DE MARAS
Maras is atown located 57km. north west of the city of Cusco, about 3400 meters above sea level. The Salinas de Maras in Cusco, or Salineras de Maras as it is also called, are salt mines whose exploitation is a sold as the Tahuantinsuyo. Located on the slope of the hill, the salt pans in the form of terraces or platforms is crossed by a stream that nourishes the pools with salt water. Composed of about five thousand pools of 5 square meters each, the water is filtered in the pools and evaporated by the intensesun, causing the thick salt crystals to sprout.
The view of the set of pools is spectacular. The villagers show visitors their ancestral techniques and allow them to intervene in the collection, as well as in Andean festivals and rituals.
VINICUNCA - RAINBOW MOUNTAIN
Known as"rainbow Mountain","cerro colorado" is located in the district of Pitumarca,in the province of Canchis,
very close to the snowy Ausangate (sacredmountain). Its high Andean area makes it surrounded by camelids such asalpacas and vicuñas, an incredible turquoise lagoon and varied fauna. Also, you can appreciate the flight of the majestic condor, an animal in danger of extinction.
The imposing mountain Vinicunca presents this color tuning due to the erosion of sedimentary stones, the same ones that are formed without any intervention of man, being compared with a terrestrial rainbow. Located within the Vilcanota mountain range, Vinicunca is located between 4,710 and 5,200 ms.n.m.
It is located 57 km north west of the city of Cusco. Moray is made up of 4 slightly elliptical galleries. For there searchers, the Moray circular terraces functioned as an agricultural research center, where each level offered a different climatic environment allowing different experimental plants to be cultivated.
Following this practice, more than 250 plant species were cultivated.
It was also the place used for astronomical observation and monitoring of climate changes, by tracking the sunlight and shadows generated by the high mountains of the area.
Located 60 km from the district of Cusco. It is an Archaeological Parkthat mainly has a group of platforms and different attractions such as: The Temple of the Sun, The Forts of Choqana and inkapintay, The Plaza Mañay Raqay, The Real House of the Sun, The Enclosure of the Ten Hundred Niches, the Monumental Home and The Bath of the Ñusta.
Each stone worked in the place is an independent work of art in relation to the others,with different sides, angles and volumes.
The fortress of Sacsayhuaman is an archaeological group located 2km north of the city of Cusco. With its megalithic walls, the greatest architectural work that the Incas did during its apogee. From the fortress there is a singular panoramic view of the surroundings, including the city of Cusco. In Inca's time it was called the house of "sun" and it was a great religious center of great importance in the local tradition.
Raqchi is a large settlement that was built in honor of the main deity of the Incas, Wiracocha. Among the various structures that were built there, highlights the temple of the god Wiracocha, although today only a part remains standing, it is possible to imagine the majesty that should have had. Raqchi is closely related to the Kinsachata volcano, which is considered an important huaca and in whose foothills exists tombs, chullpas and walls
