Valença is a historic Brazilian city located in the southern state of Rio de Janeiro. It has six districts: the headquarters, Barão de Juparanã, the "City of the Barons", Santa Isabel do Rio Preto, Pentagna, Parapeúna district and Conservatory, the "City of Serbs". Nowadays, its economy is focused especially on agriculture and for the university center that exists in the municipal headquarters.
UNIVERSITY AND HOSPITALS
It is one of the most traditional in Brazil. Its current pedagogical model is the result of a whole trajectory since its creation, with almost half a century of existence. Its pedagogical structure proposes to overcome the logic of segmentation in basic cycle, clinical cycle and professional cycle (internship). The course promotes the early insertion of students in health service networks, considered as an important space for learning and exchange of experiences. As partnerships, developed in recent years, with a local and regional health network, our three levels of health care and our teaching hospital were decisive to trainer the necessary differential in the training of medical students.
