Hatay is a province in southern Turkey, on the eastern Meditteranean coast.It also known as 'City of civilizations' because of having lots of historical places.Hatay is a peaceful place where different kinds of people live in.
UNIVERSITY AND HOSPITALS
Mustafa Kemal Univercity Tayfur Ata Sökmen Faculty of Medicine was founded in 2001 and started its activities in 2002.Between 2002 and 2008, the former State hospital building in the city center was used as a hospital and deanery bulding.Since December 2008 Tayfur Ata Sökmen Faculty of Medicine has been operating in its buldings.The faculty of Medicine has 3 divisions ; Basic medical science, Internal medical science and Surgery medical science , 42 main science and science branches and 292 teaching staff (40 professors 86 instructors 166 research assistant).
RESEARCH PROJECTS AND LABS
Anatomy lab , Histology and Embryology lab , Biochemistry lab , Microbiology lab , Pathology lab, Biology lab.Also there is a biological research center in our faculty.
You will be provided 2 meals a day in the hospital. You can also teste delicious Hatay cuisine ( such as Kağıt Kebabı , kunefe , Tepsi Kebabı) in restaurants around the hospital.
There are lots of student hotels and dormitories around the hospital.Student hotels usally have a kitchen , a bedroom and a bathroom.Rooms are centrally heated and some of them have air conditioner.All of the rooms have internet connection.There are 3 male 2 female student dormitory around the hospital.Tayfur Sökmen girls dormitory is located on campus and has a capasity of 1000 people.Habibi Neccar male dormitory is not on campus but at walking distance.Cemil Meriç male dormitary is located 10 minutes away from hospital.
You can travel to Hatay by plane or by bus.It takes 1 hour 40 minutes from Istanbul ,1 hour from Ankara by plane and 11 hours 45 minutes from. Istanbul 7 hours 10 minutes from Ankara by bus.There are Havaş buses from Hatay airport to city centre and lots of buses from city centre to every corner of Hatay.Bus transportation starts at 6.30 am and ends at 11.40 pm.
Antakya Museum ; World's second largest collection of Roman Mosaics. St Pierre Church ; One of the first church of Christians. Old city centre ;There is Uzun Çarşı (Long Bazaar) and there are lots of beatiful old Antakya houses to see. Çevlik Beach(Samandağ) ;Its the second longest beach of Turkey (14 kilometer). Titus Tunnel of Vespasian ;It was built as a water channel in 2nd century. In addition there are lots of places you must see such as; Habibi Neccar mosque, Vakıflı village , Payas fortress , St Simon monastery , Defne waterfalls , Hıdırbey Musa tree , Koz castle
