Approximately 12.56 million foreign visitors arrived in Istanbul in 2015, five years after it was named a European Capital of Culture, making the city the world's fifth most popular tourist destination.The city's biggest attraction is its historic center, partially listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and its cultural and entertainment hub can be found across the city's natural harbor, the Golden Horn, in the Beyoglu district. The climate in Istanbul is generally similar to Marmara region; summer months are warm and humid with very little rain especially between July-August, winter months can be cold and wet with some snow but not that much extreme as some other areas of Turkey. Spring and autumn are mild and this would be the best time for visitors.

Koç University Hospital
As one of the newest schools of medicine in Turkey, we started our first academic year in 2010 – 2011. Our objective is to train the students of Koç University School of Medicine as doctors, who are concerned with the health problems of the 21st century and who can generate medical solutions under the guidance of science. Koç University Hospital is the research and training hospital of the Koç University Medicine School.
In 2012, the hospital's groundbreaking ceremony was held and September 2014 the first phase of the project has been completed. At the end of this stage, the hospital has 192 patient rooms with 24 inpatient bed availability and 8 service, 12 operating room, intensive care unit with 55 inpatient bed availability (16 general, 16 pediatric and 15 newborn), 14 bone marrow transplantation bed and 49 inpatient bed availability with interventional anesthesia and preoperative & postoperative care units.
With a separate hospital building dedicated to children, our pediatric service line is dispersed into an area of more than 10.000 m2 with patient services, pediatric care units and outpatient clinics.
With the 220.000 m2 net space area campus encompasses hospital buildings, training & research areas, advanced learning center, auditorium and social areas will complete in May 2016.
