Cheonan is a city located in the northeast corner of South Chungcheong, a province of South Korea, and is 83.6 km south of the capital, Seoul. The average temperature in the city is 12.5oC, with a recorded high of 34.2oC and a low of -13.4oC.
The local economy is fueled to a great extent by tech sector companies in the area. Large national corporations such as Samsung, LG, and several technology companies all have operations in Cheonan. The large number of universities also contributes to an influx of spending, as students from around Korea flock here for eight months of the year.

Dankook University, abbreviated as DKU, is a private research university located in Yongin and Cheonan, South Korea. The University was established in 1947 as the first established university after the National Liberation Day of Korea.
Dankook University Hospital (DKUH) opened in April 1994 to improve regional health. It has 1300 medical and other staffs. DKUH is the largest general hospital in South Chungcheong Province with 900 patient beds and 33 specialty clinic including Internal Medicine, Surgery, Ophthalmology, ET (Ear, Nose, Throat), PM and R (Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation), and Diagnostic Radiology. DKUH is active in medical research with the Medical Laser Research Center, Life Science Research Institute, Gastrointestinal Research Unit, and Biotechnology Research Institute.

The city is very well-connected to Seoul by road. Express buses to and from Seoul depart every 10 minutes every day. It takes approximately 1 hour. Also, you can access Seoul by train through two train stations. The first is Cheonan Station and the second, (served by the KTX high speed railway) is Cheonan-Asan Station. Different areas in Cheonan are also served by Seoul Subway Line 1. The road and rail also connects to other provinces of the peninsula, making it the ‘hub city’ of Korea.
