OVERVIEW
Maringá is a municipality in the state of Paraná, an averagesized planned city with a recent urbanization and the third largest in the state. It is the seventh most populous city of the southern region of Brazil (397,437 inhabitants, according to IBGE/2015).
The city is located in the northcentral state of Paraná. The capital of the state, Curitiba, is 427 kilometers away.
The climate is subtropical (with decreased rainfall in the winter); the average temperature of the coldest month is 10 ºC and the annual average temperature is 21.7 ºC. 
The city offers an enviable flora! You can see its tree lined streets that produces a good air to breath all year long and also, specially in winter passage to spring, many trees burst into flowers. Maringá is considered one of the greenest cities in the world.


UNIVERSITY AND HOSPITALS
UNICESUMAR

The Unicesumar had its activities iniciated in 90’s. Nowadays, it is considered one of the biggest and best private universities in the country, reaching a 4.0 grade according to the Ministry of Education (MEC), in a rating, Conceito Preliminar de Curso, which the highest grade is 5.0. In 2008, the National Health Council authorized the institution of the Medical School in the Academic Center, starting in 2012, according the National Curriculum Guidelines. Most of Unicesumar's professors have Maters or Doctorate degree.

THE MEDICAL PROGRAM

The Unicesumar medical program is authorized by the MEC ordinance no. 448, November 17, 2011. The program has a goal to become a national reference in the formation of doctors, whose attention is to solving problems with an integral vision of the human person. The Medical Graduate Program is structured according to the MEC National Guidelines. Its method is PBL, Problem Based Learning, with theoretical and expositive lectures, laboratory and practical classes. The tutorial groups are focused on the students, who, with the help of tutors, seek to actively learn the proposed goals.

BOARDING
The host student or hospital will provide at least one meal per day. 


LODGING
The incomings are alocate in students flat house, family houses or republic houses (where students share a house and create a family bound). They will have their own bed and will be provided with one bathroom (which may be shared), and internet acess in the house or at the college.


TRANSPORTATION

Before the exchange program starts:  
1) You can take a plane to Curitiba and, after that, go by BUS to Maringá (there are a lot of buses avaiable). 
2) You can take a plane directly to Maringá. 
We may be able to pick you up from the airport or bus station. We'll talk about that once you confirm you are coming to Maringá. 

In Maringá: 
1) BUS: the bus system works quite well in here. It won't be a problem. We'll teach you how to take buses and which ones you should take to go places like your house, hospital, university, etc.
2) RIDES: many students have cars and they may offer you a ride home or to the hospital.
3) UBER: uber is very popular in here and everybody uses it. 

SOCIAL PROGRAM

NFDP - A party with all incomings, where we exchange some typical local foods and drinks. At The Food and Drink party you get to try some Brazilian dishes and share with us your culture! Besides that in Maringá you can also find clubs, pubs, bars.
