At the instigation of Governor General of the Eastern Siberia Nikolai Muravyov-Amurskiy after the left bank of the Amur River was assigned to Russia and Included in the territory of the Russion Empirethese lands had been primarily developed by Cossacks (russians militarily).
In 1856 one hundreed and thirty eight Cossacks of the Amur united division built and occupied Ust Zeya post for the carrying out frontier guard duty. In spring of 1857 Ust Zeya post was relocated to the territory of modern Blagoveshchensk and after one year, on the 5th of July by the Emperor Alexander II Decree it became a city of Blagoveshchensk. In 60-80 years the great bulk of people came from Siberia. Then down to 1905 to Amur peasants from Ukraine and the central agricultural areas of Russia went. The small part reached new places from Belarus and Lithuania.
In 1996 BSMI was reorganized the Amur State Medical Academy (the Amur SMA) and admitted to the Association of medical schools of Europe. It allowed unify doctor’s training with All-European standards. In May, 2011 a general meeting of a work collective of the Amur SMA took place. In June, 2012 the Amur State Medical Academy celebrated its 60th anniversary. The Academy travelled a long and a glorious road.
Own clinical base are:
Cardiac Surgery Clinic and Scientific-practical medical center of the Academy “Family Doctor”. 19 clinical departments of health care institutions of regional and federal jurisdiction including four policlinics and four dispensaries are educational and medical bases of the Academy.
169 full-time teachers (including 12 part-time) work on the basis of medical institutions of the Amur region and own clinical departments. 29 of them have the scientific degree of Doctor of Medical Science, 98 - Candidate of Medical Science, 21 professors, and 38 associate professors. 56 people have higher qualifying medical category, 9 – the first category and 6 – the second one. All teachers are certified specialists.
The department annually trains 100 residents of the first and second year of study.
Buses, trolley (electro) buses and are available from 06:00 till 23:00. There may be changes in schedule during the holidays and special events. Waits vary, depending on the time of day, but they’re usually 5-10 minutes. The mini-buses or city route taxis are commercial means of transport. So-called “marshrutka”, they are usually yellow-colored or white-colored small buses.
