Vitória da Conquista, Bahia, is a city in Bahia, Brazil, which serves as a regional center for the smaller cities Barra do Choça, Planalto and Poções. These cities on the plateau, all at around 1,000 metres (3,300 ft) elevation, form the basis of a strong, traditional, coffee-producing region, as well as a rapidly expanding center for new businesses.
Vitória da Conquista (known as simply "Conquista" by locals—in order to differentiate it from the city of Vitória in the state of Espírito Santo) is the third largest city in the state of Bahia, after the state’s capital, Salvador, and Feira de Santana. Its population, according to IBGE (Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics) was 348718 2017. It was named after the colony of Vitória da Conquista.
The course aims to graduate physician generalist able to solve the population's health problems, with a humanistic vision, critical, reflective, ethical and social commitment.
The method of Problem-Based Learning (PBL), used for the course, it is a theoretical and methodological approach that recognizes the need to develop real problem solving skills. Facing real problems students learn content and develop critical thinking skills.
PBL method aims to train students able to define a problem clearly; develop alternative hypotheses; use information from various sources; change assumptions based on information and find solutions that correspond to the problem and the conditions, based on the information obtained and a clearly expressed reasoning.
The course aims to ensure full medical training to be graduated in technical, scientific and humanistic terms, endowing the medical academic knowledge required to practice the skills and general and specific skills.
Professional overall framework, will be able to develop actions of prevention, promotion, protection and rehabilitation at the individual and collective; make decisions, evaluate, organize and decide the most appropriate practices, based on scientific evidence; seek learning, continuous, both in their training and in their professional practice; guided their behavior in ethics, acting with commitment and responsibility.
The host student or family will provide at least one meal per day / the hospital will provide it.
Our local meal consists in bread and coffee with wilk in the morning, and lunch and dinner with rice, red beans, some kind of meat (beef, eggs, chicken, pork or fish), vegetables and salad. Also, there are lots of italian, german, french and japanese culinary references.
The incomings are alocate in students flat house, family houses or republic houses, where students share a house and create a family bound. They will have their own bed and will be provided with one bathroom that can be shared or not, and internet acess, on the house or on the college.
Passaredo an Azul Airlines is expanding its presence in Vitoria da Conquista, connecting the city to the largest airport in Brazil the international Guarulhos.
