Ryazan is the administrative center of Ryazan region. Ryazan region borders Moscow 
region, so Ryazan city is located close to Moscow. The distance between Ryazan and 
Moscow is 196km. Ryazan is also an industrial and cultural center and is included in the 
top 30 cities of Russia. Its population is more than 530 000.


For over 70 years Ryazan State Medical University has been training qualified personnel for Russian Healthcare System. Today the University conducts programs of high and secondary professional education in medical spheres. It trains specialists in internship, residency, postgraduate study, doctoral candidacy, as well as provides professional retraining and qualification improvement. This educational institution is a research center of medical science and medical prophylactic activity.

Most incoming students have their internship in the Regional Clinical Hospital.

Incoming students have internships in the laboratories of the Ryazan State Medical University in the departments of Biochemistry, Histology, Microbiology and Immunology ans etc.

There is a canteen in the University campus area and there is a cafeteria in each student 
hostel. Students coming for bilateral exchange are provided with at least one meal a day 
in the student canteen.
There are three supermarkets opposite to our University. If you need a place to have a 
snack you may walk for 10 minutes and find a large shopping center. 
Incoming students are accommodated in one of the University student hostels. There are 
rooms for 2 or 3 people, so you will definitely have a roommate. The students are 
provided with pillows, blankets and beddings, some kitchen stuff. 
ATTENTION!!! Smoking, drinking alcohol, drugs are strictly forbidden in the

You can get from Moscow to Ryazan by two ways: by train or by bus.
There are two railway stations in Ryazan. They are called Ryazan I and Ryazan II. They 
both are close to Ryazan State Medical University. It takes 7 minutes to walk from 
Ryazan II and 15 minutes to walk from Ryazan I to our University.
The best way to travel to Ryazan is to go by train as there are a lot of trains travelling 
from the Kazansky subway station in Moscow to Ryazan. We recommend students to go 
by a fast, comfortable express train. The train ticket costs 400-600 rubles. It takes about 3 
hours to get from Moscow to Ryazan. 
You can get to Ryazan by bus as well. The bus ticket costs approximately the same as the 
train ticket.


Ryazan region represents the whole Russia in miniature. Here is ancient history, unique  
folk customs and traditions go side by side with rapid development and growth.
The ancient historic center of Ryazan is the Kremlin. It is an outstanding architectural 
structure. Here is the place where Pereslavl-Ryazansky was founded in 1095 and at first 
all the buildings were wooden.  Throughout the long history the Kremlin has been rebuilt 
many times and at present the Ryazan Kremlin is a complex of stone buildings dated by 
the 17th century. The Ryazan Kremlin ensemble contains 18 architectural, historic and 
cultural objects. The territory of the Kremlin is the best way for walking in Ryazan.
Beside the ancient history all modern entertainments are available in Ryazan. There are 
theatres: Drama Theatre, Puppet Theater, Music Theatre, Concert Hall and others. There 
are also cinemas, museums, a circus, an ice palace and other places to skate and to ski, 
parks, nightclubs, etc.
Ryazan region is associated with the names of many well-known people famous for their 
scientific or cultural achievements. The most prominent and visited places include the 
Memorial Museum-Estate of Academicals I.P.Pavlov and The State Museum Estate of 
Sergei Esenin in Konstantinovo, a village in Ryazan region.
Every medical student knows the Great Russian scientist Ivan Petrovich Pavlov, the first 
Nobel Prize Laureate in Physiology and Medicine.  He was born in Ryazan in 1849 and 
lived here for the first 20 years of his life. The Memorial Museum -Estate of academician 
I.P.Pavlov is located in Ryazan in the house where he was born. The museum is notable 
for its cozy atmosphere. It recreates a Russian provincial family life of the 19th century.
The great Russian poet Sergei Esenin was born in Konstantinovo village in 1895. In his 
poems he praised the beauty of Russian nature and spiritual greatness of the Russian 
people. His poems were translated into 150 languages.


Ryazan is one of the leading tourist destinations in the Central Russia. The monuments of history and culture attract many tourists. The Ryazan Kremle is famous symbol and main landmark in Ryzan. It is ensemble of The Old main of Ryazan fortress(11 cen.), beautiful churches (15 - 20 cen.) and Palace of Oleg. Sobornaia Bell is one of the highest bells of The Orthodox Church.

Ryazan State Museum of Art is one of the largest museums of Russian and European arts. It has paintings of F. Guardi, A. van Ostade, V. V. Kandinsky and others.
