Mersin is a large city and a port on the Mediterranean coast of southern Turkey. It is part of Cukurova, a geographical, economical and culturel region. Mersin’s nickname within Turkey is ‘’Pearl of the Mediterranean’’
Mersin hosted the 2013 Mediterranean Games.
Mersin has a typical Mediterranean climate. It has the lowest temperature in winter, especially January which is above zero. In summer the temperature might be very high.Sometimes it’s nearly 40 degrees.

Mersin University is a state university, built in 1992. The university has about 25000 students, 1500 academic staff and a number of foreign and guest academic staff. Medical Faculty is founded in 1998. It has many prestigious members as educational committee. Experienced doctors and surgeons study in many various fields.
There are two current researches in Mersin Hospital:
Morphological features and vascularisation of the infrapatellar fold in adult human cadavers (2016-2017)
Incoming students can have their lunch in university cafeteria. There is also a restaurant named Fulya Restaurant which is located in university campus. Other than restaurant in campus you can also have breakfast in Teras Marin with beautiful Mediterrenean view or have a delicious dinner at restaurants in coastline.
Mersin has some delicious traditional foods such as Tantuni and Kerebic.
Tantuni is a delicious meal made of meat and chickhen. You can have it in some restaurants like Goksel Tantuni or Memos Tantuni which are famous for their Tantuni.Kerebic is a traditional dessert which is made of walnut and pistachio.
Our lodging plans aren't certain but we'll choose 1of2 options. Dormitory or host.
The dormitory is near by the university hospital and medical faculty. You can arrive in 5 minutes by walking from dorm to university. The dormitory has hot water constantly(7/24) and Wifi . Also there are shops such as tailor,hairdresser,laundry room in it. Each room has a 3-student capacity.
Host's home will be so close to faculty and enough comfortable. There will be basic things like air conditioner, fridge, oven, bed, wardrobe and more like that. If you need anything else at home, just let us know.
There are shuttles from Adana Sakirpasa Airport to Mersin. It takes nearly 1,5 hours. The shuttles arrive to Mersin Forum which is the biggest shopping center in Mersin. There is an efficient bus system for transportation in city which makes it easy to go see around by yourself. We're using a card for city buses. Also we'll give you a card for transportation.
If you’d like to travel to other cities near Mersin, you can either use the local bus terminal or the main train station. You can also get plane tickets for fair prices if you are planning on seeing further location.
