Our school was established in April 1987 as the Chang Gung Medical College, and at that time had a mission of training outstanding medical personnel. The recruiting of students began during July of the same year, and a ceremony commemorating the founding of the school and the beginning of classes was held on September 19. To meet the needs of the country's economic development, we later added departments and graduate schools of engineering and management, enabling us to broaden our instructional resources and turn out talented workers in medicine, engineering, and management. Our engineering and management have accepted students since 1993, at which time the Ministry of Education permitted us to change our name to “Chang Gung College of Medicine and Technology.” After adding more departments in the subsequent years, the Ministry of Education formally approved our upgrading and name change to “Chang Gung University” in July 1997.Visit more on CGU.
The University's campus covers an area of 37.13 hectares; major structures include the Medical Science Building, Engineering Building, Third Teaching Building, Second Medical Science Building, student dormitories, Student Activity Center, and Library. These buildings provide a total of 354,849 square meters of floor space. There is thus approximately 60.6 square meters of campus space and 57.9 square meters indoor space per student.
The campus facilities are divided into three functional areas: teaching and research, recreation, and residential areas.
The teaching-research area consists of classrooms, discussion rooms, laboratories, offices, and the library. Roomy, well-equipped spaces make this area a superb environment for research and teaching. Residential areas, which include dormitories and recreational areas for faculty and students, are reasonably-priced and provide an excellent study environment.
The fully-equipped student dormitories are capable of meeting all students' residential needs.
In addition, our school also provides a full range of facilities for sports and extracurricular activities, including student association activity rooms, indoor space for cultural activities and leisure, and outdoor sports areas. As far as landscaped campus areas are concerned, the University currently has approximately 29 hectares of green lawns, and recreational facilities such as landscaped scenery and footpaths are planned. The campus is thus completely able to satisfy the living and recreational needs of students, faculty and staff.
It has been more than 30years since the Chang Gung Memorial Hospital was established in 1976. During this period, the hospital has gradually grown in terms of facilities and the number of patients, and the quality of services provided has also improved to meet international standards. To go from scratch to a world-class teaching hospital in 20 short years is an outstanding achievement. In managing CGMH, we have always been patient-oriented, putting the needs of our patients as our top concerns. By providing better services with lower costs, we have gained confidence from our patients. Today, while CGMH has 6800 beds and serves 27000out-patients a day island-wide, we are still constantly striving to improve ourselves in services, teaching and research.
We are undergoing research and reformation of traditional Chinese Medicine, aiming at its integration into modern medicine and furthermore; we have a rehabilitation hospital for chronic disease, and a retirement home for the elder lies to provide all-round healthcare services. Our goal is not only to keep up with, but to excel the most advanced medical centers of the world. And now, there are Taipei, Keelung, Linkou(Medical center), Taoyuan, Chayi, and Kaoshiung(Medical center),etc, 11 branches containing medical centers in Taiwan, and two and more in Mainland China under Chang-Gang system. It's definitly the largest medical network in Taiwan(also Asia). Students undergoing SCOPE programs will take their courses mainly in Linkou medical center, Taipei county.Visit more on CGU hospital.

The following are the most usual ways to come to our hospital from airport:
I) Take the Taxi
It's quite recommended and definitly the easiest way to take the taxi, for you don't have to get worried about changing vehicle. You will see many taxies lining up just outside the airport. Contact your CPs to be sure for the places you'll meet each other.
II) Take the "Tour Buses"
There are lots of bus companies available at the Second Terminal of the airport. But unfortunately there are no direct bus heading for Linkou Medical center. You may have to transfer from Taipei main station, or Taoyuan main station. It's not recommanded for the travelers who come to Taiwan for the first time.
