OVERVIEW
Moscow  is the capital and most populated city of the Russian Federation, with 16.8 million within the urban area.

Moscow is a major political, economic, cultural, and scientific center of Russia, as well as the largest city entirely on the European continent.

Moscow's architecture is world-renowned. Moscow is the site of Saint Basil’s Cathedral, with its elegant onion domes, as well as the Cathedral of Christ the Savior and the Seven Sisters. The first Kremlin was built in the middle of the 12th century. There are 96 parks and 18 gardens in Moscow, including four botanical gardens. There are also many theatres, including the most famous The Bolshoi Theatre.






UNIVERSITY AND HOSPITALS
There are 3 Medical Schools in Moscow: First MSMU named after Sechenov, RNRMU named after Pirogov and MSUMD named after Evdokimov.

The clerkship will be arranged in Moscow Clinical Research Centre (МКНЦ). During our hospital exchange students can learn a lot, all the doctors are happy to teach them some basic surgical technics or give explanations in internal medicine departments. We also have a DaVinci machine and laparoscopic simulators.

RESEARCH PROJECTS AND LABS
Moscow LC provides a research project at Moscow State University of Medicine and Dentistry named after A.I. Evdokimov. 


The project in the following field:

Infectious diseases

Name
Phenotypic study of peripheral blood lymphocytes in the acute gastrointestinal infection and their prognostic role in inflammatory bowel disease and irritable bowel syndrome

The aims of the project are:
1. To analyze the lymphocytic immune system in the acute GI infection.
2. To discover the role of lymphocytes in the development of post-infectious complications and chronic inflammatory bowel disease.

The student will assist in the immunological laboratory (and biopsies) with the cell culture and samples, running abovementioned. The student will study the results with the use of statistical analysis.

BOARDING
If you stay in a host family, they will provide you with one meal per day. If you stay in a student flat (with no host family) or in the dormitory, we will provide you with coupons for MuMu restaurant.
LODGING
We offer you free accommodation for the days mentioned in your card of acceptance. Usually it is a host family, sometimes a student flat or dormitory. We can not change lodging according to your preferences.
Keep in mind that sometimes it may take more than an hour to get from your place of stay to the hospital -  this is the way most of us live in Moscow and it is ok for such a big city.
TRANSPORTATION
Moscow transportation network includes buses, trams, Metro, trains and planes to provide connectivity between Mpscow's districts and beyond.

There are three primary commercial airports serving Moscow: Sheremetyevo International Airport, Domodedovo International Airport, and Vnukovo International Airport. We advise you to take the cheapest and the most convenient flights for you without airport consideration. They have no major differences.

Moscow has several train stations serving the city and nine rail terminals. They are located close to the city center, but each handles trains from different parts of Europe and Asia.

During the week local students will show you all the beautiful places in Moscow such as parks, museums, theatres, beautiful streets, cathedrals and other famous places. Moscow is a lively city, full of things to see and places to visit, from the Kremlin to lots of spots for shopping and sightseeing. It is a mixture of historical and contemporary sights. You can shop, engage in cultural activities in the capital of music and theatre, or simply be captivated by the beautiful surroundings of Moscow.

Short must-see list:

The Moscow Kremlin is one of the most ancient parts of the city and symbolizes the whole of Russia.

The Bolshoi Theatre is the most famous theatre in Moscow.

The well-known St. Basil’s Cathedral.

Central House of Artist is the largest exhibition center in Russia.

The Tretyakov gallery has many unique and magnificent pieces of art.

Also Moscow metro is famous for its architecture and the stations called “underground palaces of Moscow” have become main sights of the city.

Shortly speaking, you can never get bored in Moscow! ;)
