OVERVIEW

Iasi is the most important political, economic and cultural centre of the North-Eastern part of Romania, as well as one of the oldest and largest cities, and one of the ex-capitals of Romania. Here is where the first Romanian University and the first Romanian Theatre were inaugurated. The city is very active by day as well as by night as there are lots of students from all over the world studying here. The most important economical sectors are related to higher education, health care, research and culture.

UNIVERSITY AND HOSPITALS

Romania has a long-standing tradition in the medical field. The Romanian health care system has been in existence since the 18th century, St. Spiridon Hospital (1757), in Iasi, being the second oldest and one of the largest in Romania.
In Iasi there are around 12 hospitals, the most important of them being: the Regional Institute of Ocology, "Saint Spiridon" Clinical Emergency Hospital, "Saint Mary" Paediatrics Clinical Emergency Hospital, the "Cuza Voda" Obstetrics and Gynaecology hospital, and the "Nicolae Oblu" Emergency Neurosurgery hospital.

RESEARCH PROJECTS AND LABS
Immunophenotyping by flow cytometry used for the diagnosis of hematological malignancies (Oncology)
Studies regarding radiotracers cellular uptake mechanism and the relation with the NET and oncologic scintigraphic diagnosis (Nuclear Medicine)

BOARDING
Incoming students are offered one meal per day (only on the weekdays), or the equivalent pocket money (250 RON). You may choose to either eat at the hospital or university cantine, where the food tastes just like the one our mothers prepare at home, or you may go to the food court of the largest south-eastern European mall where you can choose from over 20 differently themed and affordable restaurants.
LODGING
The incoming students will be placed in a student dorm, 10 minutes of walking away from the city center.

TRANSPORTATION
To get to Iasi there are 3 possibilities:
1. By train (aproximate price: 25 Euros)
2. By bus ( price: 18 Euros)
3. By plane (between 15 and 100 Euros, try to get them as fast as possible from https://www.blueairweb.com/ or from http://www.tarom.ro/en/)

The transportation in Iasi is pretty easy: the one way bus or tram ticket is 0.5 Euro.
SOCIAL PROGRAM
During the summer there are 2 national trips organized monthly. One of them is around Brasov, where you get the chance to visit the most important castles, including the famous Dracula's Castle, and the other around the city of Sibiu, where you get the chance to experience our breathtaking mountain views. Besides that we have or own acitivities like traveling around the region visiting UNESCO monuments (especially the famous Moldavian monasteries) and other cities, parties, going to the swimming pool/ice-skating rink and the National Food and Drinking Party, cycling through the forest tracks, and many more!
