Traditionally all of our undergraduate schools, Schools of Medicine and Nursing are devoted to develop women's professions. Our graduate schools, faculties and hospitals are open to both genders. The uniqueness of TWMU derives from the founder's strong volition to establish women's professions. Her conviction, "sincerity and compassion", enlightens is our commitment for medical services and care provided to our clients. Our medical school curriculum applies a unique learning program based on a learner-centered education and the 6-year curriculum articulates our commitment to excellence. The medical school was awarded the "Good Practice in the Higher Education" in 2003. The Nursing School provides 4-year curriculum to develop professional carrier of Nurse and School Nurse.
Advanced medical research is also a part of the university activities. The university was awarded the "Center of Excellence" (COE) in research for the regenerative medicine in 2003. Other basic and clinical researches are undergoing in the graduate schools and medical research institutes.

Tokyo Women's Medical University Hospital (The Main Hospital)
In 1908, the teaching hospital of the original medical school opened. After several decades, Tokyo Women's Medical University Hospital, located in Kawada-cho, Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo, is now an advanced state-of-arts hospital with 1,389 beds as of September 2015. The hospital has adedicated staff of 6,358, comprising 1,775 doctors, 1,684 nurces, 735 medical technicians, and 2,164 logistic personnel. The hospital has 9 medical centres, with 38 departments and 13 independent clinical departments. it has about 3,900 outpatients serving the whole Tokyo area, although most outpatients are from Shinjuku-ku. About 40% of new patients are refferal and others are walk-in patients.
